Blackie's Famous Five Photos
Blackie had 5 favorite photos that he called his "Famous Five". The October 1959 issue of "This Month on Okinawa" had his story of the "Famous Five" photos and their meaning to him.
The famous five photos appeared in many forms and publications and were sold in hand colored and framed versions. One of the most unusual is the one that appears here. The frame material appears to be some form of heavy fiber (possibly plant fibers) that were dyed, glued and compressed into a thick matt and then cut into the form of a frame. The frame is 33 inches by 9 inches and is 1 inch thick. Each photo is 5 inches by 7 inches and has been colored by hand.
